A poor result from a very good performance saw OLV drop 3 points at home last Sunday. OLV, once again, dominated for long spells and came away with nothing to show for their troubles. The home team had many opportunities to put Irishtown out of their misery, but an error and an uncleared ball midway through the second half was the turning point in this very frustrating game.
The entire squad seemed to be involved in one or another move that could have seen OLV take the lead. Mark Matthews, Noel Stapleton, Gordon Farrell, Alan Short and Pat Heary all had their chances but could'nt find the killer touch. Even after gifting Irishtown a goal midway through the second half, OLV continually battered the away team towards submission but came up short.
Great displays, once again, all over the pitch, Dave Kavanagh had a superb game, James Coates, Martin Dunican and Neil Ferry worked well together in doing their bit to keep Irishtown away from the OLV box. Gareth, Elle, Micka and Rory did their bit after coming off the bench but it was all to no avail as OLV went down to a 1-0 defeat.
