Baldoyle 2 OLV 1 (M.Dunican)

OLV lost valuable points on a wet and windy day in Donaghmede last Sunday.  In a game that was very tight it was hard to see how the deadlock was going to be broken.  Baldoyle had the majority of the chances in the first half but only had one shot on target.  In truth it was more due to a good performance from the OLV back line of Neil Ferry, Martin Dunican, Dave 'Bart' Kavanagh and Micka Collins than anything else.

Half time 0-0

The second half would see a better performance in an attacking sense from OLV as the visitors seemed to get a little further up the field than before.  The game was hanging in the balance and it looked as if a single goal would possibly settle the tie.  OLV broke the deadlock on the hour when from a corner, Martin Dunican (once again) rose highest in the box and drilled home with his head to put the visitors in front,  0-1 OLV.

But the home side were far from finished and they began to press higher up the park and although they were the attacking force, it seemed more in hope than anything tactically deliberate.  Alas for the away side, with about 15 mins left on the clock disaster struck as the OLV keeper Dave Kelly didnt deal with a lobbed ball over the defence and allowed an onrushing Baldoyle duo to between them, contrive a goal.  1-1

Then with just minutes left on the clock, Baldoyle striker broke down the OLV left and from the corner of the box drilled a low shot towards goal which keeper Kelly could only parry towards another onrushing duo and the advantage was now Baldoyle's 2-1.

Full Time 2-1
