Manager John Lowndes Asst manager Brian Fitzsimons Devastating result today against our old foes Frankfort. This was a game that we definitely should have come away with three points , we totally dominated the game from the off and although we had all the possession we lacked the cutting edge up front and wasted many opportunities to score. We did finally take the lead when a bad mistake from the home defence allowed the alert Stewy O'Reilly to steal in a score one of the handiest goals he'll get this season, our second goal was a fine effort from fit again midfielder Brian Fitzsimons who went on a fine run to beat a couple of defenders and score with a cool finish after his first effort came back off the advancing keeper. We saw out the remainder of the half in control and could have added a third, confidence was high and we would have expected to go on and see out the game with ease but a total collapse in the opening stages of the 2nd half saw us give awaya two goal lead. We can blame many things for the result; A good goal ruled out for offside , An opposition player that shouldn't have been on the pitch, A stone wall penalty that wasn't given. But regardless of the excuses the result stands and now we can hopefully go and win our remaining fixtures and hope that there are a couple of mistakes made by the teams above us. |
