Another excellent performance from every player involved today especially Stewy O'Reilly who weighed in with another hat-trick, there were great performances all over the park and we played some cracking football in stages and showed a lot of character as we kept going and didn't let the tempo drop as we missed a serious amount of chances, Bob Hannon was excellent, he and Keith Derwin linked up very well down the right flank as did Terry Byrne and Emmet Fitzpatrick on the left, our midfield trio of Garreth Boyle, Stuart Parker and Brian Fitzsimons all operated well together and had serious amount of possession compared to the home team, on the rare occasions the home team did attack our central defenders of Gordon Farrell and skipper James Coates were immense(most notably a last ditch Coates clearance when the score was at 0-1), Rory Keogh had little to do in goal but was very alert and made a couple of good saves when called upon, we couldn't get the breakthrough until Parker opened the scoring after 27 minutes with a similar long range goal to his cracker last week, the floodgates opened then as super striker O'Reilly scored two goals, one either side of half time and then he even turned provider for his brother Dan to score from close range before he finished off his hat-trick, at 5-0 we could have sat back but we scored a couple more when Dan O'Reilly played a nice through ball for fellow sub Jonny Dutton to finish then Brian Fitzsimons scored from a Dutton assist to cap off the rout, we possibly should have had a couple more as we were easily the freshest team on the park as John Lowndes used our other subs Dunican, Lowndes and Mahon very well and they all slotted into their positions perfectly.
Six points from our opening two games, twelve goals scored and only one conceded is better than any of us could have expected and it's an excellent opportunity for us to keep the confidence high, keep playing together as a team because we have a tough away game to Irishtown next weekend and if we can get stuck into them and get a result it will give us the determination we need to do the business week in week out and we will be right up there fighting to win the league come November.
