OLV A 3-1.OLV B

OLV A had a superbly  successful  outing as they beat a very youthful OLV B team at Marko tonight to lift the inaugural (only ever) OLV Trophy.  OLV A (over 43, Under 57)  have now lifted 2 trophies this season after winning the Derek Ward Trophy along with their OLV B compatriots earlier this season.  OLV B (under 43 over 35) were brave but had no answer to the more experienced (and probably better equipped) OLV A team. Sometimes it's said that skill can be an overriding  factor in a football game and clearly it was, as the young bucks, bucked without bucking as it were!

From an early stage it was simply a forgone conclusion, that the oul ones were indeed the good ones and that football was second nature to all but one team.  Although B team manager Jonny Dutton  struck an superb equaliser (Goal of the game) to bring the sides level at 1-1 after A Team maestro Coates (Captain Fantastic) had given the better footballers the lead with a Bendyyydorm type shot.....................

Then as if there was a god, Legend Pat Heary added his name to the score-sheet to make it 2-1 with a quite amazing goal. That Goal made it then seem appropriate for him to show off his large belly, to all but a few in the bustling park and so it looked like curtains for the B Team. Soon enough after this, a cracker put paid to any comeback from the B team, a wicked goal from a potential man of the match (I Think it was em, shit Ian, Feck, can't remember i'm too old) made it 3-1.  The goal that sealed a victory, that in all fairness was inevitable from the start.  The oul ones ran out comfortable winners and it should have been many more but for poor offside calls and lots of squandered one on one chances. The Young Bucks almost had another consolation late on, but A Team keeper Redmond made a fine save to end all hopes of that.

Some players to mention are Paraic, Dave (benidormoereiorrer), Martin, Anto K, Willie, Ian, Phil, Mick, Pat (benidormoereiorrer), Jamsie (benidormoereiorrer) and Paddy Mack who came to cheer the A Team on..

Also of note were Jonny (benidormoereiorrer), John, Marky, Mark, Rory C,  Rory K, (starting to see a trend here)  Anto C, Deco,  James M and the ever-present Gareth (benidormoereiorrer)

Missing tonight was Anto  (benidormoereiorrer) who was too scared to show up as he knew what might have been

NB:  New players may be divided up for next season trophy, but will it be,,,, Baldys Vs Hairys?  or maybe even a  Benidormoereiorrers Vs Stayathomers trophy stay tuned to see........................................................

Give Captain Coates a bottle of lager and let's find out, decisions are final!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
