MANAGER; JOHN LOWNDES
The report for this match could almost be a carbon copy of last weeks game as once again the scoreline doesn't reflect the performance of OLV ,the home team controlled the opening half hour with numerous opportunities to take the lead , again Matthews was having a good start to the game and one of his efforts struck the woodwork from distance, Heary ,Dunican ,Lowndes and Dutton also had good chances but the Portrane keeper made some good saves and OLV were kept at bay, once again a high back line was the downfall for OLV as the pacy Portrane attackers broke through the defence who all had been having a good game , again keeper McCabe was left with little chance to stop the away team from taking the lead which they doubled five minutes later in almost identical fashion.
HALFTIME 0-2
Manager John Lowndes made three halftime substitutes and the players coming on all slotted in well and once again OLV were in control but it didn't last long because against the run of play Portrane grabbed a third goal ,the Ballyer lads went straight back on the attack and the pressure paid off as Ian Clifford scored a good goal from a Matthews corner ,OLV continued to press Portrane and were looking likely to grab another goal when a well worked free kick from Heary went just wide ,OLV were unlucky to conceed a penalty a few minutes later and as the clock ticked down and OLV were on all out attack Portrane scored two late goals to put a shine on the scoreline.
FULLTIME 1-6
