A great game played in Fonthill saw OLV race into a two goal lead thanks to two good goals from last seasons top scorer Marky Matthews and solid performances from all over the field ,but with numerous chances squandered OLV could have rightly out of sight before the home team got back into the match with goals coming before halftime .The second half started much the same as the first as OLV could have scored a couple in the early stages but the home team stood firm and weathered the storm ,OLV started to falter at the hour mark as injuries and a lack of substitutes began to let Liffey Valley back into the game and they scored the winner with about twenty minutes left to play ,the game played out with neither side adding to the score and finished with probably a fair result  but OLV can be very proud as this was only their second game of pre-season and there are plenty of signs that this can be a very good season for OLV.
