. Manager ; John Lowndes.

Congratulations to Portrane f.c on winning the Afl Sunday senior division league title.

This was a great game played between two good teams on a scorching evening out in Portrane on Thursday  ,Portrane were on the front foot right from the first whistle as they desperately needed a win to snatch the league title from Baldoyle but they didn't find it too easy as OLV were determined to finish the season on a positive note and they started well dealing comfortably with any of the early Portrane attacks but it was inevitable that the home side that took the lead after 15 minutes but it didn't last too long as Ian Clifford scored a good goal from a well delivered Mark McCabe free kick ,the equalizer rattled Portrane and it was all OLV play for the next 10 Min's but Portrane regrouped and scored a second goal just before halftime.

HALFTIME 2-1

OLV manager John Lowndes made the only change available to him when Matty Connelly came in to the midfield to try help get the equalizer OLV deserved but the home team were on their game and the Ballyer men just couldn't get on the ball enough to snatch a goal ,the game entered its last quarter and the heat and lack of substitutes finally caught up with OLV who were all beginning to feel the strain and Portrane grabbed two more goals to put the game and the title in their pocket but they had a couple of late scares as OLV could have scored a couple very late on with Panto Maher heading over a  Jonny Dutton cross and the referee blowing offside when the player was clearly onside the ref blew the final whistle soon after and Portrane could finally start celebrating the victory they deserved.

Well done to all of the OLV lads for a long hard season and thanks to Pat Heary who played his last game(hopefully we can change his mind again) see you all in late July for some "fun" pre-season training.
