Clonshaugh ssfc 4 - 2 OLV (Dave Kelly ,Dave Delgarno)

OLV squad ; Rory(bolo)Keogh ,Anto Kelly ,Martin Dunican ,Dave Kelly ,Mick Collins ,Garreth(brian)Donovan ,James Coates(C) ,Phil Lowndes ,Paddy McEvoy ,Jonny Dutton ,Dave Delgarno ,Matt Connelly ,stewy(darcy)Houlahan. Manager ; John Lowndes. Two goals in the last ten minutes spoiled a good comeback for OLV as they looked to be heading for a hard earned draw away to a very good Clonshaugh side at Belcamp park ,OLV started well and could have scored a couple early in the game and possibly should have been awarded a penalty when a shot was handled in the box by a Clonshaugh defender but it was the home side who scored first after half an hour and as the game wore on OLV were definitely the better team but Clonshaugh scored once more on the counter attack just a couple of minutes before half-time .Manager John Lowndes made some good changes at half-time and it certainty made a difference as the fresh players added a lot of pace and OLV had all the possession and it was only the tight home defence that kept the ballyfermot men from scoring ,the constant pressure from OLV was bound to lead to a goal and it came with twenty odd minutes left when Dave Kelly scored one of OLV's best goals of the season with a volley from 25 plus yards, the away team sensed another goal and they had Clonshaugh on the back foot with wave after wave of attack and when an OLV player was fouled 35 yards from goal captain Jamesy Coates had a shot that wasnt dealt with properly and Dave Delgarno was on hand to smash home the loose ball from eight yards and bring the sides level with fifteen minutes left ,OLV could have gone on to score again but it was Clonshaugh who got a lucky breakthrough to go back in the lead and OLV went back on the attack and maybe should have had a peno but the ref waved play on and Clonshaugh broke up the attack raced up the field to score with the last kick of the game and put a shine on the scoreline that didn't ring true to how the game actually played out......... So it was another defeat but a lot of heart can be taken from the game as both management and players can take credit for a very well fought tough game.
