Rivermeade f.c 3 -V- 1 OLV 35s (M.Matthews)

OLV squad, Dave Kelly, Mick Collins, Garreth Donovan, Martin Dunican, Willie Murphy, Pat Heary, Phil Lowndes, Matt Connelly, Derek Dunne,Stuart Houlahan, Noel Stapleton, Rory Keogh, Ian Clifford, Gavin Clifford, Mark Matthews. Manager, John Lowndes. This result has to be put down as just "one of those days" for OLV after losing away in St.Margarets on Sunday morning, the game began as a scrappy affair with both teams struggling to gain the upper hand on Rivermeade's uneven pitch, nothing seemed to go OLVs way as for once the usual team cohesion was missing and the Ballyfermot lads struggled to make any major in-roads towards the home teams goal, the game continuted in this manner until the twenty minute mark when Rivermeade took the lead through their right sided midfielder who finished well after OLV failed to fully clear their lines. The half played out in the same manner with OLV having only one serious effort on target that saw Noel Stapleton's shot cleared off the line. Halftime 1 - 0 OLV began the second half with manager John Lowndes making three substitutions and reverting back to a 4-4-2 formation in the hope that some fresh legs might get them back into the game and it seemed to pay off as OLV immediately gained the upper hand and kept possession, but just as it looked as though OLV might score an equalizer Rivermeade scored another goal to make this a much harder task, fair play to the ballyer lads they didn't let this setback get to them and they pulled a goal back soon after when Marky Matthews latched on to a long punt from keeper Dave Kelly and as usual when he is in these positions he finished calmly to get OLV back into the game, surely now the away team would equalize and earn a least a point but it just wasn't to be as once again Rivermeade scored another unlikely goal on the counter-attack to make it 3-1,the game ended soon after and OLV were on the losing end for the second game in a row but its not all doom and gloom as OLV showed some great play and movement, they can now look forward to a home game against Clontarf Villa next Sunday.
