OLV 35s -2(N.Stapleton,P.Lowndes) v 0- Clontarf Villa

OLV squad: Dave Kelly, Mick Collins, Garreth Donovan, Martin Dunican, Willie Murphy, Paddy McEvoy, Pat Heary, Phil Lowndes, Stuart Houlahan, Derek Dunne, Noel Stapleton. Anto Kelly, Ian Clifford, Gavin Clifford.

How this game finished with just two goals for OLV is anybody's guess as they were back to their best on Sunday morning in markievcz park, there were just forty seconds on the clock when OLV had the first shot of the game and it set the tone for the morning as the home team completely dominated the game, having beaten Clontarf Villa both home and away last season OLV must have been quiet confident of a win and put to rest the last two disappointing results,OLV completely ran the show with good performances from every single player and it was almost twenty five minutes before Clontarf had their first effort on goal and that was dealt with brilliantly as Dave Kelly made the first of four superb saves,OLV took the lead on the half hour mark when Noel(frank) Stapleton curled an absolute cracker from 25 yards over the keeper and into the top corner, this goal spurred his teammates on even more and they had numerous efforts before the end of the half to add to the scoreline but the clontarf keeper was in good form and made some quality saves and even had the crossbar to thank as a great effort from Paddy McEvoy had him beaten but came back off the bar and was hacked clear by the defense.

Halftime. 1 - 0

OLV began the second half with slight changes to the team and continued where they left off in the first half by totally controlling the game in the hunt for more goals, they didn't have to wait too long as they doubled their lead after 60 minutes when Phil Lowndes finished well after the ball was sent in from the right wing when the referee had allowed advantage play after an OLV player was fouled by the clontarf fullback, clontarf showed some fighting spirit from the tip-off and had a long period of good possession but they couldn't get the breakthrough thanks to good defending and another couple of top-class saves from Kelly,OLV kept their composure and soon enough regained the upper hand in the game and looked likely to score more goals as they pressed the visitors back and enjoyed all the play, made a couple more substitutions to keep everyone fresh and saw out the remainder of the game in control.

Full-time 2 - 0

Well done to all the lads, every single member of team deserve credit for this result and hopefully now we can put a good run together starting with next weeks Clifford cup game away to Clonshaugh.
