James Coates received the players 'Player of the season' trophy for 2010/2011 at Boomers pub last night.
James was the most consistent player throughout OLVs season and his gritty and determined style of play earned him great respect from all of his peers. In awarding him the trophy, manager John Lowndes put any myth of racism to bed when, for the second season in a row, the trophy was presented to a Northsider!
The achievement must be regarded as a great triumph for Jamsie as the level of play that was needed to secure the award this year was all the greater since the squad had received a boost, both in player numbers and player quality. Jamsie was a well deserved recipient having been brought from a central midfield position into the back four to help bolster the defence. Performing at a high level of intensity, week in and week out, he had also seen an improvement in his game as the season progressed and capped off the season with some terrific displays.
Congratulations to James from all the lads!
Congratulations also to James Rattigan who was honoured with the club man award. James has been a great servant to the club throughout his time with OLV and continues to be. James is a true testament to what the term 'team player' means and his willingness to put the team first has been seen as a great attribute to our club. Well done to Ratts!
