In a very competitive game on Sunday morning, OLV moved up to second place in the table with a close 2-1 victory over Clonshaugh.
Deco Byrne, once again got his name on the score sheet when he connected with Gordon Farrell's cross to head home from close range to put OLV 1-0 up in the first half. Clonshaugh did equalise before the break to leave this game on a knife edge and at 1-1 the game could have been anybody's. Last years player of the season Martin Dunican came up with a second half winner to give OLV a tight but deserved victory over a battling Clonshaugh side.
Unfortunately a couple of poor decisions saw one player from either side seeing red, Captain Pat Heary was the unfortunate OLV player to be sent to the sidelines. Nevertheless, it was a very good win over a very competent Clonshaugh side, which helped push OLV into second place in the table.
With the league leaders firmly fixed within our sights, is it possible to think about a league title?
