OLV 1 (P.Lowndes) CIE/RANCH 1

A very competitve game of football saw OLV and CIE share the spoils on Sunday morning. It was a very evenly matched contest in which either side could have won the game if they had taken their chances.

Philip Lowndes had put OLV in front with a looping header that had left the CIE goalkeeper scrambling to get to, but in vain. With OLV on a high from having gotten their noses in front, maybe it was a slight lapse in concentration that allowed CIE/Ranch to get back on level terms. A deflected shot from outside the box gave the OLV keeper no chance of saving and the teams were back on level terms.

Before the game, many would have said that CIE/Ranch would be too good for their OLV counterparts however, OLV showed their worth with a very convincing display and were unlucky not to have won the game.

Noel Stapleton and George Byrne had good chances, with the latter having a one on one with the Ranch keeper, but on this occasion George was not clinical enough and the keeper made a good save.

1-1 and OLV look like a strong side in depth, with some great performances all round.
