OLV35S 1 St Columbans 3

Another bad day at the office for OLV as the away team stood firm and were well worth the win. The result gives us a return of just 1 point from two home games and is not the start to the new season we would have expected after our impressive preseason performances.

A decent result to start the season with.
Although we had a fair share of possession in midfield our forwards never really threatened the away teams goal and were lucky to escape with the draw as keeper Mahon made an outstanding reaction save with just a few minutes left.

OLV 35s 0 Irish town Fc 5

Unfortunately we crashed out of the Grimes cup, although we put a decent fight against a very strong Irishtown side a depleted panel of players and some bad luck ensured we just didn't have enough and after an excellent opening hour we conceded some late goals.
Best of luck to Irishtown in the cup.

         Devastating result today against our old foes Frankfort.
This was a game that we definitely should have come away with three points , we totally dominated the game from the off and although we had all the possession we lacked the cutting edge up front and wasted many opportunities to score. We did finally take the lead when a bad mistake from the home defence allowed the alert Stewy O'Reilly to steal in a score one of the handiest goals he'll get this season, our second goal was a fine effort from fit again midfielder Brian Fitzsimons who went on a fine run to beat a couple of defenders and score with a cool finish after his first effort came back off the advancing keeper. We saw out the remainder of the half in control and could have added a third, confidence was high and we would have expected to go on and see out the game with ease but a total collapse in the opening stages of the 2nd half  saw us give awaya two goal lead. We can blame many things for the result;
A good goal ruled out for offside ,
An opposition player that shouldn't have been on the pitch,
A stone wall penalty that wasn't given.
But regardless of the excuses the result stands and now we can hopefully go and win our remaining fixtures and hope that there are a couple of  mistakes made by the teams above us.

Plenty of players showing for the ball
